Critique of Silver List Photographers

Widline Cadet

Widline Cadet has a magnificent amount of beautiful photos when opening up to their site. This is the first photograph that did pop up when going to their site and I absolutely love the beauty that is shown here in this photo. It was very eye catching to me, and a lot of the photos on their website consist of both black and white and color photos with very beautiful and eye catching imagery. The monotone of having black and white and still managing to show that beauty within the picture is very interesting to me.

Many of their photos on their website show a sense of energy and and show what society is lacking in. These photos call consist of black beauty, which women and men aren’t really shown when it comes to photographs in modeling or really anything. The media continues to lack in the representation of black beauty, and if they do it is a washed down version of them. This photographer shows a great representation on what black beauty is and how beautiful these human beings are in a simple way.

Nydia Blas

Nydia Blas captures so many different emotions and feelings within their photography. Each picture shown on the website all have unique ways of being captured, as well having different emotions captured in each photo. They are all seen in different environments. They have many series on their website as when to clicking on one picture, it takes you to a series of pictures that match a sort of theme going within the photography.

Such as this photo, many of the pictures included within this series I enjoyed looking at. They all had the similar background of the painting reference and as well having many different other black women in front of it. Once again I enjoy looking at black models and black beauty shown within various types of photography because I believe they don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Social Issue Written Assignment

My poster is meant to come across both genders and see that there is no such thing as women being able to do what they want and wear what they want. Reason for that because everything is enforced by men. I wanted to be able to show on my poster exactly how stupid it is for men to control us and what we do when they go through different things than what we go through. My argument is show on my poster is how dress code is an misogynic thing and enforces the start of rape culture that happens in our lifetime because man say we have to do this and that and follow their rules to benefit them. I believe I inspired myself for this decision because I have gone through many things as a women and has experienced the gender norms and how men and women are supposed to be which is something that shouldn’t happen anymore because we don’t live in that lifetime or generation before. The flip side or the other side might say how sexist it is to only include one gender, and how to attack one gender. In reality though, shown through the statistics, males aren’t absolutely excluded, but they do have lower numbers than women when it comes to certain things. I believe some audiences can get offended from my poster as my poster is meant to be direct and say how much this is stupid for having a dress code when the male species should learn how to focus on themselves and schoolwork rather than a girls bellybutton. I believe my poster does get across its message. The message gets across by poster having an example of something being distracting and how bellybuttons, legs, and bra straps aren’t. After that in the bottom I explained how much it is sexism, misogynic, and has rape culture put towards women.

Wassily

This image was my inspiration for my own work I made. Looking at his work, specifically this work, reminds me of something like that universe. The planets, the stars, and everything that might be inside the universe. I really love the moon, the stars, the planets, the sun, etc. Anything involving with the sky and galaxies and even astrology interests me so much and I love learning about it. For that reason, I decided to go with circles as my main subject. Wassily utilizes many interesting shapes in his artwork and different shades, opacities, and even colors.

Sandy

Sandy Skoglund is an artist who utilizes contrasting colors to catch the viewers eyes. She photographs the same subject in several different ways and places them all into on background. She uses either a very dark and bland background and then uses a bright and vibrant color to even out that contrast. This creates very intriguing works of art that require analysis and thought. I really love her creative process she goes through which is very interesting and inspiring to one who might one to try it out.

Favorite Photo from 100 Most Influential List

This image was taken by William Anders in 1968. It is a well taken picture of the Earth from the moon that shows so much emotion by just looking at the emptiness and darkness around it. This picture captured from the moon shows the Earth beauty in terms of loneliness because of the darkness that consumes it but also by how fragile it seems to be because of beauty it holds. Seeing that this was taken from the moon, you can see how far away our home is really from any other planet nearby. Especially with the moon and sun, who we see constantly through our lives, we can understand that they are far from our lonely home than they seem to be.

Having a colored picture of the Earth can really picture to us that our Earth is something that we can not abuse. Seeing our Earth and seeing how colorful it is and just seeing how beautiful it is in general can inspire us to not abuse with pollution or litter our planet. We can see that many other planets are far from us and that our planet is the most sufficient for us to live in. We should be thankful for the planet we are living in. This photo can really impact that idea of global warming, pollution, and even people littering. I believe using this photo can even be used to campaign to others that we have the most beautiful planet ever and that we shouldn’t destroy it.

Review of 2 articles on Conon Lens Experience

The first article was about Joe Buissink, a Wedding Photographer, by John R. Harris. This was an inspiring story to me because the article talked about the photographers background and journey in his career. He became a photographer late in life and he was as well as a psychology PhD student. I think it’s amazing how so far in life he was still able to find his passion. I truly don’t know what I full want to be yet so that just makes me look forward for my future in photography, if I have a future in photography. I just know any career that has to do with photography is great cause you are able to capture moments and tell stories with just one picture.
The second article was about John Tlumacki, a photojournalist, by John R. Harris. I always have been inspired by photojournalist. Their work can put them in the worst conditions, and they could be in danger at times but they still end up capturing these amazing pictures that tell stories on their own by just looking at them. Photojournalist also take videos to capture moments. Photojournalism seems so interesting to them and I would consider it as a career choice idea as I don’t really know what is my future in photography. I can consider it and go down that path if I chose to.
Job Hunting – Indeed
During my search on indeed, I found one job that I believe I could be interested in. It was a social media marketer. It would consist of me managing the social media’s page of a photographer. I would have to assemble photos, photo collages, and series based on whatever the photographer is trying to convey through social media. The requirements for this job is to be well experienced in handling social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, Tiktok, etc. I believe I have many experience in handling these social media sites and as well as handling photos within those sites. Having this type understanding is crucial to be apart of the job and as well have an understanding of photography techniques to understand what is going on within photos.

The Broad Critique
This was created by Roy Lichtenstein. The five aspects of this image that I like are the color scheme. The black and white really caught my eye especially with the contrast on the grey within the photo as well, some parts are lighter than others. The flowers are one things I found in life beautiful so just the simplicity of that I like. I love the attention to the details, all the way from the table it is standing to the vase and to the flower petals. The texture within the flower petals I really like and it even caught my attention more than ever. Lastly, I really like the texture and color in the background, as it is almost grayish but as well contrasts between the flowers and even the table which makes the object stand out.
